Zach: Day 15 of 10,220

   Happy National Punctuation Day!?;',:!

Here's an interesting tidbit for all you folks from the District.  Every presidential election year since 1948 when the Redskins have won their final home game before the election  the incumbent party's candidate has prevailed victorious.  The only exception was 2004.  Their final home game before the 2008 election comes on November 3 against the Steelers.  Go Skins!

Also Congratulations Manny Ramirez for being the only the second player in MLB history to have 50+ RBI's in the NL and AL during the same season!

Just got off the phone with Kev.  He informed me that I had to tune into the travel channel for their special documentary on hotdogs.  I was so excited I could hardly contain myself.  I sprinted upstairs to enhance my evergrowing knowledge on the sacred art of the weenie and bun.  At this juncture in my life I have chosen to dedicate myself to mastering all things hotdog.  So as you can imagine I was very dissapointed to find that my cable package does not include the travel channel.  My goal is to have one of my hotdogs featured on such a program in the near future.

The weather was great today, and we were unusually busy.  I was working by myself so I did not have much down time.  I knew that tonight's run would come after 9:00 so I took the opportunity presented by the lull between lunch and dinner to bang out 55 push-ups in the stock room while still wearing my apron.  At 9:00 I knew that time was of the essence.  I ran upstairs and changed clothes.  i was trying to decide whether to go treadmill or outdoors.  It is a long drive to the treadmill and I decided that there were to many things that could go wrong.  What if I get a flat tire or somebody rear ends me.  I will not have the streak compromised by such unpredictable variables.  It is dark so I throw on a white t shirt along with my Nike running shoes, black gamecock shorts, and white Nike headband.  I hop in the car and book it to Pawleys Island.

I parked the Avenger across the road from the town hall/police station at 9:07.  All of the lights are off, and there are no police cars in sight.  I guess they close early in the off season.  I begin to stretch when I am overcome with the urge to relieve myself.  There are no cars around so I open the passenger door, stand behind it, and strategically take a wiz.  I am well versed in this tactic from my tenure as tailgating enthusiast.   I then begin my run to the south.  In my effort o avoid getting hit by a car I opted to leave the ipod at home.  My only soundtrack was provided by the strong gusts of wind and my tennis shoes hitting the pavement.  I'm not sure what got into me, but for some reason I was running at unusually high speeds tonight.  I kept up a very brisk pace the entire time and when I got to the south end of the Island I could feel the burning in my knees.  I knew that I had already run well over a mile and a half, but I decided to keep on going.  The last few days I have given minimal effort so I need to have big night.  The run back was a struggle at first.  Should I stop?  Would Jaguar Paw stop?  No Way!  When I reached the Avenger I had run approximately 3.6 miles.   Although tonight was not my furthest run, it was definately my best effort thus far.  I was very windy tonight and I experienced some wind burn.  Chaffing is also becoming an issue.  Gold Bond will be purchased soon.  Tommorrow I plan on running through the city of Georgetown along the Waccamaw.

Zach's quote for the Day:  "I am Jaguar Paw. This is my forest. And I am not afraid."  (-Jaguar Paw, "Apocalypto", 2006)
