Zach: Day 21 of 10,220
Congratulations Myrtle Beach High School kicker Jordan Butler for hitting the game winning field goal on friday night in the battle for the Victory Bell!!! The Myrtle Beach Seahawks defeated the Conway Tigers 24-21 in real nailbiter.
Today's run was my best and most intense thus far. I haven't sweated this much since highschool football two a days. I parked my car at the bike path that runs North along Hwy 17. I immediately hit the pavement for 25 push-ups. I then inserted the ipod headphones and began my run to Murrells Inlet wearing a blue Northwestern Mutual t-shirt, black Nike shorts, and Nike tennis shoes. I only saw two runners today. They were a couple that was drafting along the path. The man was out in front and I ignored him as he passed. When I passed his lady I gave her a solid finger point that evolved into a fist pump. I almost went in for the high five, but I thought that might be to much. In retrospect I wish I had. We are all brothers in the fraternity of the runner. I also passed several speed walkers and bikers, most of wom were middle aged women. I've come to the conclusion that this demographic makes up at least 70% of the local population. I should count middle aged women like Kev counts dogs. I maintained a very brisk pace all the way to Murrells Inlet. When I reached the boardwalk over the marsh I stopped to appreciate the beauty of mother earth and father sky. I then completed 25 push-ups and began the run back to the car. I ran at a very fast pace on the way back, and it seemed as though the path would never end. I discovered a dirt path to an oyster shell recycling center that I chose not to venture down today, maybe later in the week. I was breathing very heavily and sweating profusely when I arrived back at the Avenger. I have made this run before, and if memory serve me correctly it is about six miles. Last time I suffered from blisters and had to briefly pause, but with my new above the ankle socks this is no longer an issue. I am becoming stronger everyday, and not stopping is becoming purely habitual. Nothing can stand in my way!
