Kevin: Day 599/10220

Happy Birthday Sofia Sakorafa!

Sofia broke the world record on 1982-09-16 with a throw of 74.20 metres. That mark stood as a Greek record until the new javelin was introduced in 1999.  Sakorafa has served on the City Councils of Athens and Maroussi. She also nearly won a seat in the Hellenic Parliament under the banner of PASOK.

- So I guess it's not just running, it's running and javelin throwing that lead to a life in public office. Look at those legs, but don't look too closely. Ahhh.... The competitor on the left looking on is so jealous. Great hairdos throughout, check out the Greek man mullet behind her.

Today in History:

1968 – The controversial musical Hair opens on Broadway.

- I have yet to see the musical or movie, but if the opportunity presents itself, I'm in. Judging by the clip below, it would be well worth the price of admission. There is a piece of me that has always wanted to go for it and let my locks go... long. I think I've missed my window.

Day 599. Needed a Red Bull to get this entry going. Slammed it. No sipping on Red Bulls allowed. I could use some work on my dining etiquette. Although, if it's just me, and I am ok with it, why bother. In groups, I'm cognoscente and dine in unison, by myself; it's a sprint. There are two problems with this habit:

1. The brain takes 15-20 minutes to realize the stomach is full. (I usually bang lunch out in 5-9)

2. When eating rapidly, chances are food isn't properly chewed, giving your body a hard time in digesting your food properly. (no worries here)

Nevertheless, I'm not too concerned. I could either eat slow and waste time. Or...... eat fast and write the greatest blog entry of all time. I prefer the latter, buckle up.

I let the sleep gods decide my fate this morning. I did not set an alarm clock knowing that I would be up early, but hoping that I might be up super early. Most importantly though, I wanted to wake up naturally. I woke up on my own, but not until 6:09. The reason I wanted to get up super early, circa 5:15, was to post up at the scene of the crime and hopefully catch a glimpse of the culprit. Officer Gale finally called back yesterday. He informed me that there was a camera, as I already knew, positioned directly facing the intersection where the hit & run occurred last Wednesday. The problem; for three days, including at the time of my accident, the camera was out of order.

Hey, can someone turn the lights on?  -->

So, I requested that the officer check the cameras along 14th Street from 5:45am-6am for a south bound yellow sports car. We'll keep you posted!

Backwards cap, hoodie, Adidas running shorts, smile. I waived to Mack and eased into a warm up walk down D Street. I headed down North Capitol Street unarmed but prepared for anything. Nothing happened. I took a stroll up Eye Street, through the back alley beside the Carmody Center and headed home; narrowly avoiding the liquid remnants of some late night party animal, and apparent fellow fast eater, on the sidewalk outside of Union Station.
