Kevin: Day 1883

Day 1883. Yesterday was fantastic. We all have good days and bad days, though some people like to claim they only have good days. Right, so if you only have good days... are some of those good days better than others? Hmm....

Anyhow, yesterday just did it for me. It was a complete win. I'd like to think my personal success barometer, not sure if that's the right use of the word, is set a bit higher than the average cat. I'm just not happy with mediocrity or mere above average efforts. I want excellence. That being said, I'm not always achieving it! People think I am the happiest person in the world. And maybe I am pretty happy. But, I am not content. And I am constantly frustrated when I don't measure up to my own lofty expectations of myself.

Yesterday I just turned it on. It was awesome. From sun up, to sun down the pedal was to the metal. It was possibly my best day at work and I also squeezed in 45 minutes or so for a meeting with a financial planner. A much needed meeting... Now, I don't know what today is going to bring and I feel a bit cocky for writing this type of post. But it's just what's on my mind.

Last week, after probably a year without my favorite book, "Meditations," by Marcus Aurelius, I ordered the paper back. I'd be remiss if I didn't credit some of my good Monday vibes to this book. If you haven't ever read it, do yourself a favor and grab a copy. It's kind of my Bible and I am so happy to have it back. Amongst many themes, the main takeaway I get from it is self-reliance and responsibility. It's a reminder to stop blaming people and circumstances for your shortcomings. A reminder to stop judging every person for every little thing they do that you personally don't like. All of which I am incredibly guilty of. But the more you keep these things at the forefront of your mind, the more you can focus on what you need to improve. Just some thoughts, not a sermon.

The run... just a quick ditty to Georgetown and back. Spandex leggings wore broken out for the 2nd time this year. Legs felt solid.

Go get it bros. Go get it!
